About Daniel P. Mattingly

Mattingly piano service specializes in piano tuning, repair, and technical work in Southern Illinois.

Daniel P. Mattingly has been self employed for eight years, and is a one-man, full service business. He has apprenticed under renowned piano tuner-technician Dean Brown, Sr. from Southern Illinois and the reputable piano rebuilder Joe Jackson of Jackson Pianos in St. Louis, Missouri.

Pianos were around from the very beginning of Daniel’s life. He started playing on an old player piano of his grandparent's, and began taking private piano lesson at age four. He grew up around music and was educated in other instruments. At age 20, he began working as a delivery technician at the local piano shop, Baldwin Piano and Organ Center in Herrin, Illinois with J.W. “Bill” Barras, Jr. and Bruce L. Steh. At that time, he was enrolled in the Randy Potter School Of Piano Technology. After advancing in piano work and apprenticeship, he became self employed and joined the Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) in 2012. Daniel attends technical conventions every year to further his education in piano technology.
